Scientific Head of the Cell and Tissue Engineering Division and Head of the iPSC Core Facility at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IREM), University of Zurich.

Dr. Melanie Generali is Scientific Head of the Cell and Tissue Engineering Division and Head of the iPSC Core Facility at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine (IREM), University of Zurich. Her research focuses on combining human stem cells, biomaterials, and tissue engineering to develop regenerative therapies and clinically relevant human models, with a particular emphasis on cardiovascular regeneration.

Her work spans the translational pathway from fundamental research and technology development to preclinical evaluation and clinical translation. She has established extensive international collaborations, including a long-standing partnership with the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) at Kyoto University, and founded iPSCore to make standardized iPSC technologies accessible to researchers across disciplines. Her commitment to advancing human-relevant research and reducing reliance on animal experimentation was recognized with the University of Zurich 3R Award.

Melanie is particularly passionate about connecting scientific innovation with clinical need and creating interdisciplinary collaborations that can accelerate regenerative therapies toward patients.
